Site Assessment

Also called: Site visit · Venue walkthrough

A pre-event inspection of the venue to confirm a food truck or pop-up can physically set up, get power, and serve safely.

Before a contract is signed for any food-truck-based event, a competent caterer will run a site assessment — either in person or via venue documentation. The assessment confirms: footprint (typically 30 ft × 10 ft for a full-size truck), surface (paved or firm ground), overhead clearance (12 ft minimum), access path width, power source if shore power is available, and proximity to where guests will queue. Skipping the site assessment is the single biggest cause of last-minute event disasters in food truck catering. Always require one.
