Shore Power

Also called: Venue power · 30/50 amp hookup

Electrical power supplied by a venue (rather than the truck's onboard generator) — typically a 30-amp or 50-amp outlet.

Shore power lets a food truck shut down its onboard diesel generator and run on the venue's electrical supply instead. The advantages are silence (no generator hum), no exhaust near guests, and lower fuel burn. The requirements: 30-amp or 50-amp single-phase outlets in the right location, with the right plug type (typically NEMA L14-30 or 14-50). Many wedding venues and corporate campuses offer shore power explicitly because it lets food trucks operate without the noise and emissions complaint vectors. Always confirm the venue's outlet type and amp rating during the site assessment.
